While it manages the sending process, protocols like POP3 and IMAP handle the receiving part.<\/p><p><strong>Step-by-Step Process of SMTP<\/strong><\/p><ol><li><strong> Client Connection<\/strong><\/li><\/ol><p>When you send an email, your client (e.g., Outlook, Gmail) connects to an SMTP server. This server behaves like a post office, ready to process and deliver your message.<\/p><ol start=\"2\"><li><strong> SMTP Handshake<\/strong><\/li><\/ol><p>The client introduces itself to the server with a \u201cHELO\u201d or \u201cEHLO\u201d command.
